Mattresses, Electropollution, and Your Health
|
|
Electric cabling, which is connected to mains power carries a voltage, and it is common knowledge, that one can get zapped by touching hot wires. A less widely known fact are the electric fields, surrounding such wires. These fields are not sense perceptible, but they can pose considerable danger to anyone in the vicinity of the electric wiring.
Electric fields by nature want to get back to Earth. If they cannot reach Earth, they go for the next best thing. A nice watery human body.
Foreign energies such as electric fields are stress factors, and therefore their impact on your health depends on individual constitution. Various health effects has been identified and includes headaches, sleeping problems, allergies, cancer, nervousness, depression, fatigue and low immunity.
The metal inside the mattress picks up the electric fields from your bedside lamp and from the wiring in the wall behind the bed head. The field is then evenly spread out directly under your body, while you are performing one of the most essential tasks of your life: relaxing and recovering for another day's work and growth. In addition to that, the coil shape of the springs actually holds and magnifies the field. During home consultations, a Building Biologist (details below) can determine how strongly your body has taken up the fields around the bed through the mattress. In some instances, client's bodies can light up test screwdrivers as they lie on their bed. Every single cell holds a recharge and the body ends up as a big battery.
In Feng Shui, it is recommended to find a sleeping position in alignment with the Earth's magnetic field. Most inner spring mattresses make this a rather absurd suggestion; because they contain highly magnetise steel. Just try this little experiment at home. Take a compass and gently pull it across your mattress in a straight line. - If the needle moves more than 5 degrees, your exposure is considered high, as the bed outdoes the Earth considerably, as far as the strength of the magnetic field is concerned. The Building Biologist Measuring Standard considers the strength of this field, as well as the rapid changes over the short distance of a mattress, a health hazard.
Mattresses and bed frames made from natural materials, such as wood, bamboo, cotton, wool, latex and coconut coir, have neutral electric properties and are therefore recommended by Building Biologists all over the world, to contribute to a good and healthy night's sleep.
